Ip Shun Hing, newly elected president of the fourth-term session of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) Hong Kong Delegates Association Limited, has pledged that over the coming months the association will unswervingly show its recognition and support for the Hong Kong Basic Law and corresponding resolutions enacted by the Standing Committee of the China's National People's Congress (NPC); will work closely with women from all walks of life across the entire nation to jointly promote the advancement of women's affairs in both the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong; and will strive hard for the building of a peaceful and prosperous Hong Kong.

Ip made the comments upon taking her oath at an inauguration ceremony held at the Convention and Exhibition Center in south China's special administrative region of Hong Kong on March 25, 2015.

The law and resolutions outline that the position of Chief Executive for Hong Kong will be elected in 2017 through the implementation of universal suffrage.

For her part, Chief Secretary for Administration of Hong Kong Government Carrie Lam said at the ceremony that the organization has made huge contributions to the social stability and economic prosperity of Hong Kong under the strong support of fellow women since it was established in 2009, adding that the local government will better seek women's advice when promulgating policies and regulations and will introduce more favorable measures to boost women's employment and their family affairs this year.

Meanwhile, Zhao Donghua, vice-president of the ACWF, gave high praise to the governmental body for its consistent efforts in the implementation of "One Country, Two Systems" — a constitutional principle formulated by late Chinese leader Deng Xiaoping for the reunification of China in the 1980s as well as for its maintenance of social stability and promotion of people-to-people exchanges amongst women from mainland China and Hong Kong over recent years. Zhao also called on local women to strive for higher achievements not only in the advancement of social and economic affairs but also with women's rights and interests.

In attendance at the inaugural ceremony were Regina Tong Ching-yi, wife of incumbent Hong Kong Chief Executive Leung Chun-ying; Yin Xiaojing, vice-director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in Hong Kong and honorary president of the ACWF Hong Kong Delegates Association Limited; Wong Yeung Chi Hung, former president of the ACWF Hong Kong Delegates Association Limited; and officials from other women's federations across the country.
