Hong Kong Women's Delegation Visits Beijing

A delegation of 54 representatives from the All-China Women's Federation Hong Kong Delegates Association, headed by Deputy Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government (LOCPG) Yin Xiaojing and President of the ACWF Hong Kong Delegates Association Wong Yeung Chi Hung, paid a working visit to Beijing on September 11-12, 2014.

Vice-Chairperson of the National People's Congress (NPC) and President of the ACWF Shen Yueyue met with the representatives in Beijing on September 12.

During the meeting, Shen extended her appreciation for the consistent efforts made by the association in promoting the development of women's causes and in safeguarding economic prosperity and social stability in the special administrative region in recent years.

Shen called on the organization to support NPC decisions on the election methods of Hong Kong's Legislative Council in 2016 and chief executive in 2017, and work closely with local government in its implementation of the Basic Law and action to deal with the ongoing illegal "Occupy Central Movement".

Wong Yeung introduced Shen to her association's efforts to help local women better involve themselves in social life and promote exchangeand cooperation with women from Chinese mainland.

Attending the meeting were Vice President and Member of the Secretariat of the ACWF Meng Xiaosi.

Deputy Director of the NPC Legislative Affairs Commission and the NPC Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Basic Law Committee Zhang Rongshun held a lecture for visiting delegates on the Basic Law, national policies of "One Country, Two Systems" and other issues in relation to political and social stability in Hong Kong.

During their stay in Beijing, officials from the Committee for Liaison with Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and Overseas Chinese of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and the United Front Work Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) held talks with the delegation.
