The local women's federation and Communist Youth League of China at Zuntan Township in Longhua District, Haikou, capital city of south China's Hainan Province, organized local college students to attend a gathering with rural "left-behind" children (those whose parents have left them at home to find work in bigger cities) on August 13.

The event aimed to further raise the public's awareness of the children's special needs, help them feel cared for and the compassion from the public, and increase their confidence in their personal life and academic studies.

During the gathering, the students gave teenagers different safety-tips about how to prevent accidental drowning, fire and traffic accidents, and lectured them about efficient learning methods.

Meanwhile, young attendees were organized to play games, sing and dance during the event. They also received donated books, schoolbags and other learning materials.
