The Guizhou Women's Federation officially launched a campaign at a ceremony held in Xiuwen County, southwest China's Guizhou Province, on October 21 to further step up the competence of its staff members and their peers from lower-level women's federations across the region in their daily work about helping to improve the lives of local women and children.

President of the Guizhou Women's Federation Luo Ning said at the opening ceremony that a total of eight delegations would be formed by staff members from the federation to undertake their due tasks in the campaign. Each delegation will be headed by an official at director-general level or a part-time vice-president of the federation, and composed of one or two presidents of local municipal women's federations as well as their colleagues, Luo added in her speech.

Meanwhile, similar delegations will also be established by local lower-level women's federations to take part in the campaign.

It is anticipated that around 20,000 staff members from women's federations will jointly work to advance the protection of women's and children's rights and interests as part of the scheme.

In addition, multiple means of assistance are expected to be delivered to local elderly residents from "empty-nest" families (those whose children have left them to form their own families or work in far-off cities) and "left-behind" children (those whose parents have left them alone at home and worked in larger cities) in the campaign.
