The Beihai Women's Federation in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region held the third phase of their public lecture series at the local Women and Children's Activity Center on October 15, to share parenting education with around 70 parents.
During the lecture, the teacher Zhou Yuqin, a national secondary psychological consultant, explained the impact of parent-child relationships on children's growth from various cases and introduced the best methods of communication between family members to parents by giving examples of communicative attitudes and postures. "Children will show respect to their parents as long as their parents show the same to them," said Zhou.
Finally, Zhou demanded that parents should not to shout at their children and instead encouraged them to share their actual feelings and experiences in the emotion-control drill in the class two weeks later.
Many participants stated that they learnt a lot about dealing with the relationship with their children from the activity. They said that they learned parents should manage their emotions in front of their children, show respect while giving them enough freedom and not blaming them in public. Only in this way can parents build a healthy atmosphere in their families, which also benefits children's growth.
After the lecture, the teacher also had individual consultations with parents, helping them deal with their confusion on family education.
