A training session to further increase local female practitioners' techniques and competence in embroidery was held by the women's federation in the Multinational Autonomous County of Longlin, south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, on October 18.

The event, which drew the attendance of over 80 ethnic minority women, aimed to promote the further development of the embroidery industry and help local practitioners increase their family income.

At the training, Yang Lisha, an embroidery practitioner of the Miao ethnic minority, known for her talents in the production of traditional Miao costumes, was invited to lecture trainees about theoretical and practical knowledge in embroidery.

For their part, attendees said that the training event benefited them in the succession of local embroidery culture and in the fight against poverty.

"I am very happy to attend such a training session. I have learned more about the traditional costumes of the Miao ethnic minority and its embroidery culture, and acquired practical skills in the production of embroidery items," said Yang Runai, a trainee at the event, in an interview and hoped that more similar training sessions would be organized for the interests of local women in the future.
