Senior officials from Guangxi Women's Federation, Guangxi Bureau of Statistics, Guangxi Commission of Health and Family Planning, Guangxi Bureau of Water Resources, and other local governmental bodies headed 10 separate inspection teams on December 15-30, 2015 to evaluate the work undertaken by 28 counties and governmental agencies in 14 cities across south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region on the implementation of Women and Children's Development National Programs (2011-2020).

During the 15-day inspection tour, participants visited local schools, kindergartens, hospitals, activity centers for rural "left-behind" women and children (those whose husbands or parents have left them to find better employment in far-off cities), training bases for women's business start-ups or employment, and other places related to the affairs of women and children. They held talks with local officials and staff members about their work on the improvement of local women and children's lives, and checked files from the perspective of health standards, education, social insurance, legal protection, development environment, and other criteria.

Attending officials put an emphasis upon the implementation of national policies on gender equality and National Programs for Women's and Children's Development (2011-2020), calling on local departments to strive for the establishment of a sound social environment conducive to women and children's comprehensive growth, as well as further their work on the advancement of relevant affairs and deepen their understanding of the importance of their work.

During her tour of Beihai City, Vice-Director of Guangxi Working Committee on Children and Women and President of Guangxi Women's Federation Wang Gebing spoke to local officials about Chinese President Xi Jinping's keynote speech on gender equality and women's comprehensive growth delivered at the Global Leaders' Meeting on Gender Equality And Women's Empowerment held at UN Headquarters in New York on September 28.

Meanwhile, she highlighted the importance of providing underprivileged women with better access to the management of public decision-making, medical checks-up against normal diseases, and confirmation of rights to rural land. She also urged local governments to allocate a percentage of their budgets to finance the implementation two programs and instructed them to strenghten their efforts in the assistance of the underprivileged in their personal lives.

Those in attendance of the inspection tour also included Vice-Director of Guangxi Bureau of Statistics Shi Rican, Vice-Director of Guangxi Commission of Health and Family Planning Wang Yong, and Vice-Director of Guangxi Bureau of Water Resources Liu Zhongqi.
