The city of Zhongshan, south China's Guangdong Province has included work on family education into its overall plan for social and economic development and its system of urban-rural public services.

Zhongshan Family Education Guidance Center has pressed ahead with the work of popularizing family education amongst local parents, provided local parents' schools with professional guidance in their day-to-day work, and sponsored lectures for target parents in the past few years.

Apart from cultivating more professional instructors, local authorities have set up over 200 parent-oriented associations with an emphasis upon mutual assistance and interactions.

The city has integrated the core socialist values into its family education and organized over 3,000 charity lectures annually to increase local families' knowledge about the topics concerned, say officials.

Moreover, social media platforms such as WeChat have been utilized to expand the public's access to professional guidance and thus increase their enthusiasm towards relevant learning.

So far, the city has had a total of 630 national-level instructors in the field of family education. Over 1.4 million parents and their children (person/times) have benefited from charity lectures related to the issue each year.
