An inauguration ceremony was held at the headquarters of the Gansu Women and Children's Activity Center in Lanzhou, capital city of northwest China's Gansu Province, to celebrate its official opening to the public on June 18.
The activity center, which had been under construction since September 2011, aims to provide a platform for local women and children to give them access to services such as professional advice on the protection of legal rights and interests; vocational training; literary readings; artistic exhibitions; popular science; and exercise classes.
Meanwhile, the Gansu Provincial Training Base on Housekeeping Service, which was sponsored by the Gansu Women's Federation, also sets up its headquarters under the same roof and is designed to help local underprivileged women unshackle themselves from poverty, with an emphasis upon business activities in connection with household management services.
