Peng Zhongqiong, president of Shiping Village's Women's Federation in southwest China's Chongqing, recently received a posthumous award after she was killed whilst on duty.
Peng was involved in a car accident whilst she was carrying out local poverty-alleviation work on June 29.
On July 18, Chongqing Women's Federation and the local Human Resources and Social Security Bureau jointly released a notification to present Peng with a posthumous honor of Chongqing March 8th Red Banner Individual.
Apart from being the president of local women's federation, Peng was also the Party branch secretary of the village.
According to the announcement, government officials spoke highly of her dedicated work during the past two decades. She always gave first priority to help grassroots people solve practical difficulties, especially in the process of leading impoverished households to achieve prosperity.
In addition, the Federation and the Bureau also encouraged local women and officials from all levels to take Peng as an example when doing work for people and constructing an overall well-off and modernized society.
