 January 30, 2020

Cai Shumin, Member of the Leading Party Members' Group of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) and Member of the Secretariat of the ACWF, and Zhang Yongkai, Deputy Director of the Beijing Municipal Education Commission, inspected the efforts of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) prevention and control in China Women's University (CWU) on January 27.

Cai conveyed the spirit of the important instructions of Shen Yueyue, President of the ACWF, and Huang Xiaowei, Secretary of the Leading Party Members' Group of the ACWF and Vice-President and First Member of the Secretariat of the ACWF.

Shen urged the ACWF to thoroughly implement the spirit of the important speeches made and instructions given on epidemic prevention and control and on the efforts to ensure final victory in the anti-virus war by General Secretary Xi Jinping.

Shen noted that the ACWF should follow the decisions and deployment of the CPC Central Committee and the requirements of the Beijing Municipal Government to prevent and control the outbreak with the joint efforts of all walks of life and shoulder its responsibilities in controlling the epidemic in its organs and public institutions such as the CWU and the China National Children's Center.

Huang stressed the study and implementation of the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important instructions on epidemic prevention, the requirements of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and the arrangement of the Beijing Municipal Government.

All the staff members of the organs should report their health conditions every day and the CWU and other directly affiliated units should report their important issues in a timely way, according to Huang.

Cai urged efforts to screen the situation of the students on the campus and of faculty members in the university and elsewhere, and to make it clear whether the parents of the kindergarten affiliated to the CWU are working on the front line of the anti-virus fight.

She asked the teachers to inform all the students about the delayed opening of the new semester, to make plans for its rescheduling and for enrollment examinations.

Efforts should also be made to improve the organizational leadership and reporting mechanism, and to optimize the work scheme and contingency plan.

Zhang spoke highly of the preventive measures taken by the university and asked the faculty members and students staying in Wuhan, Central China's Hubei Province, not to leave their current residences or return to Beijing.

He also urged improved management and protection of faculty members and students on the campus.

After the meeting, the leaders of the university and members of the CWU's Party committee held a seminar to announce the feedback from the inspection delegation in the morning, and discussed detailed plans on carrying out the instructions made by leaders of the ACWF and the city's education authorities.

Li Mingshun, Secretary of the CWU's Party Committee, and Liu Liqun, President of the CWU, have taken turns to organize the COVID-19 prevention and control with other leaders of the university.

Regular meetings are held twice every day to collect information and tackle problems in a timely manner.

In addition, the university has sped up to formulate its teaching plans for the new semester and adjusted arrangements of teachers and students who are about to graduate.
