 September 6, 2016

Led by Xiao Wei, director of the Center for Gender and Ethics Studies (CGES), some 30 overseas students from the Experience China project visited China Women's University (CWU) on August 5.

Shao Juan, CWU's deputy librarian received the visitors and presided over a seminar. A number of CWU's postgraduates also participated in the event.

Shao outlined the situation of the university and China Women and Gender Library, and communicated with the visitors on CWU's management features, talent cultivation objectives, and development prospects.

Upholding the motto of "Virtus, Caritas, Scientia and Cultura", CWU aims to infuse its students with such values as self-esteem, self-confidence, self-support and self-improvement, and, prepare its graduates toward an all-around development in morality, intelligence, sports, aesthetics and labor, enabling them to flourish in different social surroundings.

The delegates spoke highly of CWU's cultural atmosphere and students' spiritual outlook, and many said that they would like to be enrolled as a postgraduate of CWU in future.

Experience China is an international platform initiated by Tsinghua University, involving students from some of the world's famous universities into a summer program. Participating institutions include Harvard, Oxford and Cambridge.

Focused on the common issues of women's development worldwide, the visitors inspected CWU's campus and studied the development of women's colleges in China, in hopes of drawing more attention to women's issues.
