Jinhua Girls High School Delegates Visit CWU

 November 4, 2015

A delegation of officials from Zhejiang Province visited China Women's University (CWU) for a symposium on October 30. CWU President Liu Liqun attended the event and it was presided over by Vice-President Song Shengju.

The delegates included Xu Gang, deputy director of the Zhejiang Geological Survey; Jiang Kun, deputy director of the Jinhua Municipal Education Bureau; He Mengkui, an official from a nuclear industry group, the 3rd Zhejiang Geological Brigade; Xu Binghua, president of Jinhua Girls High School (JGHS); and Li Bing, the Chairperson of JGHS Council.

Xu introduced the development history and characteristics of JGHS, and stated a hope to strengthen mutual cooperation in scientific research and course programs, as well as exploring the possibilities for mutual cooperation and links in terms of student recruitment. Xu also promised to give more support to CWU's enrollment publicity and internship arrangements.

During the symposium, Liu pointed out that women's higher education institutes and girl's high schools have the same aims to cultivate talent and serve society. In addition, they have strong relations in the education system. In order to tie-in with the girl's high school, they could follow the example of the cooperation demonstrated by Beijing's "Gaocanxiao" project, Liu said.

Liu further referenced the speeches given by Chinese President Xi Jinping at the recent UN summit on Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment, to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Fourth World Conference on Women. Liu said that these important speeches should be kept in mind, and that the pursuit of gender equality is "a great cause".

These would provide a better development space for women's education, Liu added. She hoped that the two schools could strengthen their mutual cooperation and exchanges, and strive for mutual benefit and pursue win-win situations. Liu also looked forward to the better development of the two schools.

Song introduced the basic situation of CWU's talents training strategy. She said that since talents training is a form of systems engineering, talent cultivation could be applied to the middle school, and even the elementary school, from the higher institute. Consequently, the cooperation between the women's university and girl's high school is meaningful, she said. The two schools should launch all-round cooperation within the scope of the system, Song added.

Directors from the Teaching Affairs Office and the Recruitment and Employment Office participated in the event. They respectively introduced CWU's undergraduate teaching, recruitment and employment situation. After the symposium, guests visited the specialist library on Chinese women.
