Shen Yueyue, Vice-Chairperson of the NPC (National People's Congress) Standing Committee and President of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), met a delegation, composed of members of the Women's Council of the Armenian Republican Party, in the Great Hall of the People, in Beijing, on September 22, 2016. The delegation was headed by Hermine Naghdalyan, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia and President of the Women's Council of the Armenian Republican Party.
Shen spoke highly of the Sino-Armenian relationship, especially the friendly communications between women of the two countries. She praised the contributions by women and women's organizations to the deepening of the friendship between Chinese and Armenian people. She expressed hope that women from both sides would both enhance cooperation and answer Chinese President Xi Jinping's call to support the Belt and Road initiative. She hoped women would make new contributions to the advancement of the development of the economic belt along the Silk Road, and that women would help their countries achieve progress at the national, regional and global levels.
Naghdalyan expressed gratitude to ACWF for its warm reception. She talked about the significance of building the economic belt along the Silk Road. On behalf of Armenia, a "pitch point" along the ancient Silk Road, Naghdalyan said she hoped to enhance cooperation with ACWF, to help women from both sides play a more active role in implementing the Belt and Road initiative.
The delegation visited China at the invitation of the ACWF. Cui Yu, Vice-President and Member of the Secretariat of the ACWF, and Sergey Manassarian, Armenian ambassador to China, attended the meeting.
