The All China Women's Federation (ACWF) recently held a work symposium in Beijing to discuss with experts on future efforts to develop the construction of family culture across the country.
Deng Li, vice-president and member of Secretariat of the ACWF presided over the event and delivered a speech to attendees, including university and research institute academics and professionals from media organizations.
Deng further introduced the past contributions of the ACWF on the establishment of family civilization.
To implement the main principles from General Secretary Xi Jinping's recent key remarks, the ACWF has carried out activities including its Looking for the Most Beautiful Family campaign since 2014, instructing families to promote positive family virtues and to sustain a good social ethos.
Meanwhile, to strengthen the construction of family civilization, the ACWF established its Department for Family and Children.
"For years, we have always held the key to the construction and the guidance on promoting family education," noted Deng.
At the symposium, experts put forward suggestions on how the federation could develop innovative future work in multiple aspects.
They stressed to further explore the ethical principles of traditional Chinese culture; promote core socialist values through publicity and education; and, instruct mothers to take advantage of their unique role in family life and children's cultivation.
When it comes to the ACWF's future tasks and work patterns, attendees suggested the federation should further set good examples and safeguard women's rights and interests.
Also, the ACWF should reinforce family functions; integrate various resources; and, use online platforms to strengthen the social publicity of such issues in the internet era.
Some experts highlighted how to deal with the relationship between cultural inheritance and innovation, and online and offline work by officials.
Deng said according to experts' opinion, the federation could develop a better understanding of the core of family culture with Chinese characteristics and the key issues currently faced by families.
As a mass organization led by the Communist Party of China (CPC), the ACWF has promoted works on family civility. It has carried out many political tasks actions for the connection, integration and services of families and children, according to Deng.
"Our key task is to deeply carry forward core socialist values to every family through family education and culture," noted Deng.
She said the discussion enabled officials to further specify their work orientation and reinforce the integration of traditional experiences and innovation to satisfy current demands, thereby promoting the work of family civilization construction.
