Fujian Women's Federation Celebrates Double Ninth Festival with Elderly

The Fujian Women's Federation recently organized a series of age-friendly activities in Fuzhou, capital of southeast China’s Fujian Province, to celebrate the Chinese Double Ninth Festival, which falls on the ninth day of the ninth month of the Chinese traditional lunar calendar and is usually reserved for honoring the elderly.

Volunteers visited local disadvantaged senior citizens and presented them with gift money and daily necessities.

A variety of entertainment activities were also held during the festival, including tea parties, painting and calligraphy exhibitions, and performances.

Singer and volunteer Zhao Xiulan performed at an activity held in a nursing home in Taizhou District in Fuzhou, singing a number of popular songs for the residents there. The nursing home residents also had fun playing games for senior citizens, such as ball-tossing and more.

A volunteer medical team also provided free physical check-ups to the residents.
