Cross-Strait Family Education Forum Held in Fuzhou

 August 13, 2015

Fuzhou Women's Federation opened the first cross-strait family education forum in Fuzhou, capital city of southeast China's Fujian Province, on August 10, to promote good family relations and encourage cultural exchange.

It is the first such event to be held in the city, and was scheduled to coincide with the third session of the local Cross-Strait Youth Festival. The forum was co-sponsored by China Family Education Institute (CFEI) and Fujian Women's Federation.

Nearly 250 delegates attended the talks, including family education experts and scholars, leaders from relevant social organizations, family education institutions, and family representatives. They gathered in the city to discuss China's traditional culture, exchange views on family education between Taiwan and Chinese mainland, and promote the harmony of families and country.

Chen Xiurong, member of Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), vice chairperson of the NPC Internal and Judicial Affairs Committee, and president of CFEI, attended and delivered a speech. Zhao Donghua, vice-president and member of the Secretariat of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), and executive vice-president of CFEI also attended the event.

The organizers invited four family education experts from CFEI, China Next Generation Education, and Fujian Family Education Institute. With the theme of "Better Family Education, Better Life—Cross-Strait Traditional Culture and Family Education", they analyzed the current situation, values and family education hot topics. They also further studied and probed into the deepening of family culture, its continuity and development innovation.

This forum is of great significance to further promoting Cross-Strait cooperation and exchange, building a consensus on family education, and enhancing people's consciousness of sharing the same ancestry, organizers say.

During the forum, the organizers also arranged parent-child activities. Throughout the whole day, they hoped to promote common development between Taiwan and Chinese mainland through the combination of theory and practice.
