China Women's News, China Women's Development Foundation (CWDF) and EPOH Health Tasmania have jointly launched a charity fund and a "Care Club" to benefit Chinese mothers and children, it was announced at a recent press conference.

The Special Fund for Maternal and Child's Health in China was jointly initiated by the newspaper and the development foundation. It aims to mobilize social resources, raise public funds for mother's and children's health, and organize awareness-raising activities.

The corresponding Care Club for China Maternal and Child's Health was established by the newspaper and the Australia-based company. The initiative aims to draw upon the experience of EPOH's existing "maternal and child health club" brand to explore the building and implementation of maternal and child healthcare projects in China, and carry out mother and child welfare activities.

Huang Haiqun, president of China Women's News; Sun Qianbin, its chief editor; Qin Guoying, vice chairperson and secretary general of CWDF; Song Wenyan, vice-minister of the International Department of All-China Women's Federation (ACWF); Liu Chuyang, Australian Embassy Economic and Commercial Counselor; and, Peter Hope, president of EPOH Health attended the launch and delivered speeches.

More than 200 people including representatives from the organizers and different media attended the event. In addition, Beijing Guishengtang Institute of Chinese Traditional Medicine donated one million yuan ($156,000) to the fund and initiated a charity program to treat 100 mothers with foot ailments. China Women's News reported that it will draw upon its own available resources to develop the club and the fund, and it hopes to build them both into influential and credible maternal and child health service brands in the country. In the afternoon, the newspaper and the Australian health firm jointly organized a seminar on "Maternal and Child Health and Industrial Development", and conducted question and answer sessions on maternal and child health-related topics.
