With guidance from the National Health and Family Planning Commission (NHFPC) and the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), the National Center for Women and Children's Health affiliated to the Chinese Center For Disease Control And Prevention (CDC), and the China Women Activity Center jointly launched a campaign titled "2015 Women and Children's Health Goes in China" at an opening ceremony held in Xining, capital city of northwest China's Qinghai Province, on August 8.

The latest campaign aims to further raise the public's awareness of women and children's health, open multiple training schemes in relation to the maintenance of personal health and hygiene, and ensure access to medical resources in their hometowns.

The campaign is expected to be rolled out in 11 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities across the entire nation in the next few years. As part of the activities in Qinghai, organizers will invite local residents to attend lectures, get free medical checks-up and provide consultations on the protection of their health.

Also at the launch, Vice-minister of the NHFPC Wang Guoqiang said that the campaign would further the positive development of China's ongoing medical reform, deliver better services to the public, and help governmental staff members better implement the principles of the "three stricts and three earnests". He added that relevant governmental bodies should work on the building of the platform, which will be beneficial to women and children's health.

The principle of "three stricts and three earnests" is a series of requirements for officials to improve their life and work raised by the President Xi Jinping in March last year, which calls on CPC members to be "strict in morals, power and discipline; and honest in decisions, business and behavior."

On the sidelines of the ceremony, the China Women Activity Center made a donation of electronic equipment valued at 200,000 yuan (U.S.$ 31,000) to 20 schools, and announced to help 30,000 rural women buy medical insurance for breast and cervical cancer for one year. Meanwhile, the National Center for Women and Children's Health also donated CDs and publications in connection with personal health and hygiene to the Qinghai Provincial Health and Family Planning Commission.

Furthermore, the Qinghai Provincial Health and Family Planning Commission and the Qinghai Women's Federation issued a joint letter at the opening ceremony, calling on locals to show their respect for women and children, and prioritize these group's interests and rights in daily life.

Those in attendance at the launch ceremony included officials from the NHFPC, the National Center for Women and Children's Health, the China Women Activity Center, and local governmental bodies, as well as representatives of medical experts.
