Big line-up of Plays to Mark 40th Anniversary of Reform and Opening-up

Based on the theme of the 40th anniversary of China's reform and opening-up policy, 25 Chinese theatrical productions from 16 provinces will be staged in Beijing from November 13 to January 2019.

Craftsmen, an original Chinese play staged by The Theatre of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, will open the event at Capital Theater. Against the backdrop of five China's military parade, the play tells the story of three generations of workers at a local factory of Baotou. Premiered in June 2017, the play is directed by Wu Xiaojiang from National Theater of China.

Other highlights include the play, The Sun On Nanyanghe River, by Singing and Dancing Troupe of Datong, Shanxi province, which, based on real events, tells the story of villagers of Tianzhen town, who making contributions to the small town's anti-poverty work, and Xiaojing Hutong, a play by Beijing People's Art Theater, which follows the life changes of 30 years of the residents of Xiaojing Hutong in Beijing.
