Women's federations and women's hand-weaving associations across the country have worked hard to speed up the Chinese hand-weaving industry and have made great achievements, said Vice-President and Member of the Secretariat of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) Cui Yu.

Cui made the remarks at a training course on hand-weaving held in Beijing from October 29 to 31.

The training course was co-hosted by the ACWF's Department for Women's Development, Beijing Women's Federation and All-China Women's Hand-knitting Association.

Cui said that under the leadership of the ACWF, women's federations and women's hand-weaving associations should seize opportunities to develop handicraft projects which are tailored to their local conditions, added Cui.

Cui noted that women's federations should coordinate with local governments to adopt more policies to stimulate the handicrafts industry.

Cui emphasized that women's federations should establish more handicrafts cooperatives, handicrafts industry bases and offer assistance to leading companies in the industry.

Honorary President of All-China Women's Hand-knitting Association Huang Qingyi also spoke at the training course.

Huang said that under the leadership of the ACWF, All-China Women's Hand-knitting Association has made great achievements in promoting the handicrafts industry since its establishment in 2011.

Huang noted that the association should improve its work, reinforce its organization and strengthen cooperation with its members and build more prominent handicrafts brands.

Over 120 officials from women's federations and women's hand-weaving associations across the country attended the training course.

According to the ACWF, so far China has established 17 women's hand-weaving associations at the provincial-level, 1300 women's hand-weaving associations at county-level and 5000 women's handicrafts bases. Over 10 million women from 50,000 communities and villages work in the handicrafts industry.
