Rural Businesswoman Achieves Success Through Online Selling

 October 15, 2019

Jiang Liping is a 32-year-old native in Shuangpai County in Yongzhou City, Central China's Hunan Province. Jiang established an e-commerce company to sell the local agricultural and sideline products four years ago. The company sells more than 160 kinds of products with annual sales of 6 million yuan (US $845,543.42).

Jiang decided to return to her hometown to engage in breeding industry in 2012 after working as a sales manager in the companies in cities such as Shenzhen City.

In 2015, Jiang established her own company to sell local agricultural products through the online platform. She focused her attention on local alcohol and ginger, and promoted her business on live-streaming platforms.

Now she has hundreds of thousands of followers on these platforms. She has helped her company and local villagers sell oranges, tangerines, fish, waxberries and sweet potatoes via live streaming.

In June 2019, she helped a villager sell nearly 500 kilograms of waxberries in no more than 20 minutes via live streaming.

Jiang said the success should be attributed to the policies and measures implemented by the local government. In the first half year of 2017, Jiang's company was included in a government-initiated promotional campaign for the county's agricultural products. With the help of the local government, a store where to experience the county's agricultural products was established in July 2017. Jiang was designated as the executive president of the store. The store displayed many agricultural specialties, which attract many customers.

Jiang now became a pioneer of developing rural economy and entrepreneurship in Hunan. The company's success brought her honors from the provincial and local governments.

Good operations, the courage to innovate, working steadfastly as well as support from the government were the keys to her success in the e-commerce, according to Jiang.
