Women's Federations in NW China's Ningxia Mobilize Social Forces to Aid Anti-Virus Battle

With the full support of public-benefit enterprises and loving people, women's federations at all levels in Northwest China's Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region have done their utmost to extend their care to the medical workers fighting against the novel coronavirus pneumonia and their left-behind family members.

The Women's Federation of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region contacted Ding Xiuqin, a founder of Wuzhong Xiuqin Cattle Breeding Cooperative, to contribute 600 boxes of dairy products worth 30,000 yuan (about US $4,300) to support efforts of the epidemic prevention and control on February 5.

Officials of the autonomous region's women's federation delivered 300 boxes of the donated milk products to the families of the medical workers from the General Hospital of Ningxia Medical University, Ningxia First Hospital and the People's Hospital of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region to aid the anti-epidemic battle in Central China's Hubei Province. They delivered 300 other boxes to medical workers of the Fourth People's Hospital of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region who have held fast to their posts.

The region's women's federation and the Ningxia Women and Children's Development Foundation jointly launched an online fundraising event and collected a donation of 139,000 yuan (roughly US $19,925.7) from the officials and members of the executive committee of the federation, loving women and local female entrepreneurs to help in the anti-epidemic battle.

The region's women's federation and the Women's Federation of Yinchuan City, capital city of the autonomous region, coordinated with Inner Mongolia Zhengwei Fine Chemical Group to donate 30.35 metric tons of disinfectant to aid the epidemic prevention and control efforts.

Ma Yufang, member of the executive committee of the region's women's federation and president of Ningxia Haoshuichuan Foods Corporation, sent self-heating instant rice products worth more than 60,000 yuan (about US $8,601) to staff members of more than 60 checkpoints located in highway toll gates, residential communities, hospitals, rural areas and centers for the epidemic control and prevention.

Meanwhile, women's federations at city, county and district levels have also extended their care to medical workers.

Apart from raising 500 facial masks for grassroots workers on the frontline, the Women's Federation of Shizuishan City delivered 100 medical gloves and 70 volunteers' suits to the Wansheng Residential Community.

The Women's Federation of Zhongwei City collected 3,000 kilograms of fresh fruit and vegetables from three women growers and distributed them among people undergoing medical isolation or observation in five townships and counties as well as police officers and frontline personnel in villages and communities.

Ma Tingxiu, president of the women's federation of Tiegou Village in Guyuan City, personally donated 10,000 yuan (US $1,433.5) to frontline workers in villages and highway toll gates, and she also purchased disposable gloves, foods and clothing for their use.
