Xiong Huiping, a bus driver from the city of Xiangyang, central China's Hubei Province, shared her understanding of the spirit of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) at a local activity on November 24.

The activity was held by Hubei Women's Federation and aimed to promote the congress spirit among women.

Xiong has served as a bus driver for 18 years, driving her route safely more than 5,000 times and covering a total distance of over 600,000 kilometers. Over the years, she has won multiple honorary titles including Provincial Outstanding Party Member and Provincial March 8th Red-Banner Holder.

Xiong said a working approach she created with her colleagues has been widely promoted in the public transportation system across the province.

In October, Xiong attended the 19th CPC National Congress in Beijing as a delegate.

"I have a deeper understanding of ‘remaining true to the original intention' mentioned in the report delivered by President Xi Jinping at the CPC congress. The more Party members keep contact with the people, the greater the power they will collect," Xiong said.

After the closing session of the CPC congress, Xiong returned to her workplace and actively publicized the congress spirit among her colleagues. Then, she started attending a series of activities on the publicity of the congress spirit in government departments, enterprises and communities.

Xiong said she spends time every day recording what she thought and learned during the congress and she has thus written more than 6,000 words, which has become an important material for her following publicity of the congress spirit.

"As a Party member, we should always keep in mind our duties of serving the people."

Since 2013, Xiong has acted as head of the No. 27 bus line and member of the Party branch of the bus line. From then on, aside from driving well, she had more responsibilities on her shoulders.

During holidays and festivals, Xiong always leads other Party members to publicize bus taking knowledge among local residents along the route of the No. 27. Meanwhile, Xiong often visits senior people and helped disadvantaged children as well as assists those with physical disabilities to do housework.

Under her leadership, the Party branch of the No. 27 bus line has been recognized as an advanced grassroots party organization in the province.

Before attending the CPC congress, Xiong said that she carried out lots of investigations in communities, schools and enterprises, collecting 18 suggestions on economic development and people's livelihoods.

After returning to Xiangyang, she also discussed with her colleagues about how to offer warm and characteristic services for local people.

"I will play an exemplary role of a Party member as before and integrate the responsibility of serving the people into my work," Xiong said.
