The 12th National Women's Congress of China was held in Beijing from October 30 to November 2. The congress, a meeting of great importance, was held at a critical moment in China's history, as socialism with Chinese characteristics has entered a new era, and as Party members and the Chinese people (all ethnic groups) have been rallying closely around the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core, and as all Chinese have been striving for a decisive victory in the building of a moderately prosperous society, in all respects, and embarking on a journey to fully build a modern socialist China. Some 1,637 delegates, from all walks of life, and 79 specially invited delegates from the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions, attended the congress. During the congress, they studied General Secretary Xi Jinping's important discourses about women and the work of women, and they reflected on the address of the CPC Central Committee during the opening of the congress. In addition, they reviewed a work report of the 11th Executive Committee of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), deliberated on a draft amendment to the federation's constitution and they elected the new leadership of the ACWF. The congress called on Chinese women to rally closely around the CPC Central Committee, with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core, contribute to the reform, development and stability of the nation, and make achievements in the new era.
