Some 900 local representatives participated in a special forum in Wuhan, central China's Hubei Province, on November 27 to discuss the development of women's work and the recent reform of women's federations.

At the event, participants watched a short video featuring the Party's leadership, reform and innovation, positive family traditions, so-called "She Power" and the changes in people's livelihood.

The video demonstrated how Hubei women have uniquely contributed major efforts to the development of women's causes in the past five years, said a spokesperson.

Organizers of the forum invited six guests, as well as several delegates to the 12th Hubei Provincial Women's Congress, to share their feelings about participating in reform and express their goals for future work.

Zhu Benlin, a legal representative of a local social work service center, reviewed the achievements made by Hubei Women's Federation in the past five years. He explained the development of local women's work by using big data.

Zhao Lixin, head of the Law School of Jianghan University, interpreted the significance of the reform made by the provincial women's federation. He also put forward suggestions to federations such as making full use of their unique role in social and economic development and innovating work methods.

Zhou Yunhong, president of Yichang Women's Federation, shared her experience of participating in the 12th National Women's Congress and spoke on how federations at all levels in Yichang have devoted their efforts to becoming strong supporters of women.

Li Rong'e, president of Jingshan Women's Federation, shared a story about a woman who had recovered from her illness thanks the "two cancers" screening project, showing women's sense of fulfillment and happiness.

Pan Lan, director of a community guidance center in the Wuchang District of Wuhan, introduced how she developed a social organization with support from local federation and provided professional services to many families and children in the past years.

Liu Xing, general manager of an incubator start-up, shared her experiences of running companies by setting up platforms and striving for beneficial resources and policies.

Liu, who is also a member of the executive committee of a local women's federation in Hubei, has contributed her efforts to helping more women start their own businesses.

As part of the event, women from different sectors across the country and overseas Chinese and foreigners congratulated the provincial congress attendees via video link. They hoped Hubei women can make significant achievements in the new era.
