Deputy of the National People's Congress (NPC) Yi Fengjiao, from Shenzhen City, in south China's Guangzhou Province, has mooted a proposal to focus on growth and development of the new generation of migrant workers.

Yi, who is a ‘post 80's generation' representative of migrant workers, said that the lifestyle of the new generation of migrant workers has changed dramatically, and that they belong to the age of the Internet. Yi suggested that the government should utilize the advantages presented by the Internet to build online training platforms for migrant workers, digital libraries, counseling and online legal services.

However, Yi did point out the weakness inherent in this generation's migrant workers: they are too dependent on the Internet, especially porn and online games. The government should address their needs and help them find better ways to spend their leisure time.

Most importantly, according to Yi, the government should help migrant workers adapt to city life. Many migrant workers are unable to take advantage of cheap accommodation and school opportunities for their children, new policies need to address these issues.
