Shanghai Women's Federation (SWF) held the second plenary session of its 15th Executive Committee on August 17 and selected by secret ballot 59 candidates to attend the 12th National Women's Congress.
According to statistics, the average age of the candidates selected is 48.2, the oldest is 59, and the youngest is 27.
Meanwhile, the number of selected from the general population is 40, accounting for 67.8 percent, which outnumbers the requirements of 60 percent as specified by the All-China Women's Federation.
Besides, SWF selected one candidate from an ethnic minority, accounting for 1.7 percent of the total, and one who is a Chinese overseas returnee, also accounting for 1.7 percent.
In addition, 58 of the candidates have received college education or above, accounting for 98.3 percent. The number of newly recruited part-time presidents from grassroots levels after the social organizations reform is three, accounting for 5.1 percent.
The selection also includes nine non-Party members, accounting for 15.3 percent.
