The Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Women's Federation has been proactive in efforts to help poverty-stricken women and children since inclement weather hit the region last week.

The federation and Guangxi Children and Teenagers' Fund donated on Sunday quilts, clothes and food valued at 380,000 yuan (US$57,580) during their two-day visit to disaster-affected women and students in Guanyang County and Sanjiang Dong Autonomous County. Among the donations were some 300 sweaters knitted by local mothers as part of the Eternal Love charity campaign. China Children and Teenagers' Fund and Hengyuanxiang Group launched in 2005 the campaign to distribute free wool to knit and donate sweaters.
The organizations also rented five buses to transport women students and migrant workers unable to buy train tickets to their home towns ahead of the upcoming Spring Festival on Feb. 3. The vehicles set off on Jan. 30 from the regional capital Nanning.
