Two Women Appointed to Ministerial Positions in Central Government

Two female officials from provincial governments were appointed top ministerial positions in central government of China following the recent annual "Two Sessions", according to an official announcement.

At least 11 provincial officials were transferred to work in the different ministries of the central government after the "Two Sessions". Among them, three were the heads of their original provinces. Eight are under 58 years old, and two are women.

The two women officials are Feng Lijun, 53, the former Vice Governor of Shaanxi Province and now the head of the political department of the Ministry of Justice; and, Cheng Lihua, a former member of the Standing Committee of the Tianjin Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China, now appointed as Vice Minister of Finance.
