China's national legislature adopted the constitutional amendment on March 11, which has been strongly supported by women from all walks of life nationwide.

Many women said they would become faithful advocators, conscientious observers and firm defenders to unwaveringly uphold the constitution.

Women across China heard the news through media and shared their opinions with China Women's News.

Cai Fei, a winner of the May 4th Youth Medal for Workers of Departments Directly Under the State Council and deputy director of family development of the National Health and Family Planning Commission (NHFPC), regarded the constitutional amendment as a compelling trend for the new era.

"It also accords with the aspirations of the Party, the people and the will of the country, which is of great guiding importance to the legal construction and development of China's cause," said Cai.

She added, "As a worker in the health sector, I firmly uphold the Constitution, abide by related laws and will make my contribution to build a healthier China."

Zhao Feng, a doctor at a community-level healthcare center in Yangfangdian, Beijing's Haidian District, expressed her determination as a grassroots medical worker.

"In the preface of the Constitution, we could see clearly that China has become stronger and richer, showing the course of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. As a common medical worker, I will fulfill my own mission to contribute to a greater motherland."

"The adoption of the amendment will ensure the constitution to play a better role in developing socialism with Chinese characteristics," said Wang Hong, a holder of Beijing's March 8th Red-Banner Pacesetter title and a teacher from Fuwai No.1 Primary School.

"As a teacher, I will exert myself to my job in accordance with the requirements of the Constitution so as to make our country thrive and be more prosperous," added Wang.

"Our society has witnessed a great change in every aspect, therefore, the Constitution should meet new challenges, absorb new experience, and adapt to new norms. Only in this way can the Constitution become the fundamental rule of all laws," said Li Guimei, executive director of Beijing DHH Law Firm Changsha Branch, in Central China's Hunan province.

Wu Mingying, president of Shijing Community Women's Federation in Southwest China's Chongqing Municipality, said "the adoption of the constitutional amendment will provide a powerful guarantee for promoting national development and bringing about a great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation."

"The Constitution is an important norm in grass-roots women's work. As a women's federation leader of, I will help more women study the Constitution, abide by the Constitution and uphold the authority of the Constitution and laws," added Wu.
