The All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) held a traditional celebration for Chongyang Festival, also known as Double Ninth Festival, on October 9 for senior female retirees at the China Women Activity Center in Beijing.
Shen Yueyue, president of the ACWF attended the event and delivered a speech. Song Xiuyan, vice-president and first member of the Secretariat of the ACWF hosted the activity.
In her speech, Shen extended her best wishes and sincere thanks to the elderly participants for their great contributions to the development of Chinese women and children in the past decades.
Meanwhile, Shen also urged women's federations across the nation to fully study President Xi's remarks made on July 1 marking the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC). The official commented that Chinese women and children's rapid progress and achievements are closely connected with all senior comrades' wisdom and concerted efforts.
It has become a point of focus that the ACWF should deepen reform and embrace innovation, and called on the large number of women across the country to follow the path of the Party to contribute their efforts to the Chinese nation, Shen noted.
Moreover, Shen expressed her hope that all retirees would constantly support women and children's undertakings through putting forward constructive suggestions while calling on staff members from the ACWF to provide improved services for them as well.
In addition, around 18 senior retirees, including Huang Qingyi, Huang Ganying, Zhao Di, Shen Shuji and Yao Ming, read poems and chorused to express their deep love for the Party and firm determination to carefully keep in mind the history's mission to offer support for the women and children's development at the event.
