The Mercedes-Benz China Fashion Week (S/S 2016 Collection) was officially launched by its organizing committee at a press conference held in Beijing on October 25, featuring the attendance of 73 established domestic and foreign designers, and 135 emerging designers from over 90 domestic and international brands and organizations.
Over the next several days a total of 66 runway shows, relevant press gatherings and other events will take place.
The calendar event, which has been annually held in March and October since its establishment in 1997, aims to bring together more industry elites, build bridges between creative design and the commercial market, initiate a new era of fashion with an emphasis upon the "Made in China" slogan, inject local aesthetic trends and fashion tastes into urban development and public life, and make life more inspirational.
According to the event's organizing committee, more than 20 activities will be held for fashion professionals, including the DHUB Design exhibition, press conferences, salons, forums, theme lectures and an awards ceremony. The event covers various categories, including menswear, womenswear, bridal, sportswear, casual wear and children's wear among others.
Womenswear is still the category that brings out the most imagination and creativity, according to organizers. Meanwhile, the number of brands in children's wear and parent-children's wear, nine in total, has seen a remarkable increase, reflecting the latest trends.
It is anticipated that more than 600 fashion journalists from 200 Chinese and foreign media organizations will attend relevant press releases and send live reports.
The cluster of foreign fashion brands and organizations at the fashion week shows how they are looking to explore the huge and lucrative Chinese market, and intend to open up opportunities via the professional platform.
The fashion week will run until November 2.October 30, 2015
