The goalkeeper of China's national women's football team, Wang Fei, who plays for FC Bayern Munich, took part in a World Cup match-watching event at the German Embassy in Beijing on June 17.
She said it was the first time she had participated in such a large-scale match-watching event. The fans on site were enthusiastic, she explained, as they cheered on their respective teams.
Wang, who has been in Germany for six months, was able to communicate with staff using English and German.
She said football exchanges between China and Germany were mutually beneficial, and she hoped to approach the FIFA Women's World Cup next year in good condition.
"My contract with Bayern is for a year and a half. It will be the World Cup then. I hope I can play more games this year and return to participate in the World Cup in best shape.
"The head coach for the Chinese team has just changed, so everything is still under discussion," Wang added.
