A 26-year-old doctor and part-time deputy-county head in Zhouzhi County, northwest China's Shaanxi Province, has proved a hit with netizens after her story was posted online.

The inspiring youngster, Zheng Ruizhen, began her career after enrollingat the Foreign Languages Department of China University of Geosciences in 2008.

"She was a straight 'A' student. She was keen to participate in campus activities so as to improve her capabilities. She was very clear about what she wanted,"said one of her former seniors at the college.

Zheng later joined a journalist team on the campus. Sun Xue, a fellow student, recalls that she was good at writing even though she was entirely self-taught.

"She is an enthusiastic and down-to-earth woman. She was careful and serious in every single interview she conducted," Sun added.

Four years later, she was recommended for admission to Renmin University of China with an unconditional offer.

In 2015, she joined the government-sponsored Ph.D. Research Program of her university and Washington University in St. Louis.
