Zhu Lili, chairman of Ninghong Group, shared her experiences promoting targeted poverty alleviation and achieving win-win benefits for the economy and society during the 2018 China (Nanchang) International Tea Exposition, which opened on May 31.
The event was held in the Exposition Center in Nanchang, capital of east China's Jiangxi Province.
Zhu said: "The black tea of Ninghong was the only officially designated tea for the 18th Asian Games, whilst the group is the only tea company chosen to work in cooperation with the Asian Games."
With hundreds of years' history, Ninghong Gongfu Tea enjoys a lofty position in the tea industry.
In 1915, the black tea of Ninghong received the Grand Prize at the Panama Pacific International Exposition.
In 2011, Ninghong Group was recognized as a Time-Honored Enterprise, Agricultural-industrialized National-level Key Enterprise, and Top 100 Comprehensive Tea Enterprise.
The company's value was estimated at 363 million yuan in 2017.
The Ninghong Group has always promoted a healthy and organic lifestyle.
Furthermore, it has gained the quality certification of organic tea products as there are no chemical fertilizers or pesticides used during the whole process, including planting, processing, and transportation, which is not only a requirement of the sustainable development, but also meets people's needs for a healthy lifestyle.
Meanwhile, the group has also developed many types of tea products based on the market demand.
The company innovatively developed a new type of citrus tea, which gained a lot of popularity in the markets across 20 provinces and cities around the country. The products have been sold in European and American markets.
The provincial government of Jiangxi selected five key, supported brands, including four green tea brands and one black tea brand, including the black tea of Ninghong, in June 2015.
Ninghong Group therefore largely constructed the tea base, owning 1,647 acres of high-quality tea bases in more than 30 villages and townships.
Meanwhile, it has also positively constructed green industry chains, which have connected villagers by growing teas and purchasing orders.
Based on the fast development of tea growing and processing, the tea industry has transformed from simply growing, selling, and drinking tea to integrated development, incorporating tea processing, entertainment, and leisure.
Meanwhile, the whole industry chain has been formed in combination with the cultural, tourism, and service industries.
Helping Tea Farmers Escape Poverty
The Ninghong Group has always focused on improving the profits of the whole industrial chain of green ecological agriculture under green-development concepts, which has also provided impoverished families with ways to earn money, such as incorporating poverty-stricken households into the cooperatives.
Over the past three years, it has generated more than two million yuan income for such impoverished families, and helped more than 10,000 tea farmers escape poverty.
