Shen Jingkai is a police officer who has specialized in bomb disposal and public security since 2007. Her squadron is the only team in Hangzhou that deals with bomb disposal.
In China, there are few policewomen in this field, because they're less suited to the work than men.
"But that doesn't mean I can't do the job, I know I have to work hard and diligently to play my part," Shen said.
The bomb suit weighs about 35kg. You can start to feel dizzy after half an hour. But in these intense conditions, you need to stay calm and stay on task.
"I used to handle leftover shells from the war. I'm proud to go into dangerous places, and make it somewhere people can live safely. Some people ask me, are there any bombs in Hangzhou? I say yes, and they tell me they never heard about it. Actually, I am glad to hear that. Because that means we are doing our job well. Our purpose is to protect people from bomb threats," Shen added.
According to incomplete statistics, There are more than 3,000 police officers in China working in bomb disposal to protect public security.
