TAIPEI, Nov. 24 (Xinhua) — About 67.8 percent of employees in Taiwan work overtime every month, with an average monthly overtime of 21.6 hours, a recent survey showed.
The survey by 1111 Job Bank, a job service website in Taiwan, showed that 41.6 percent of employees consider their working hours too long.
The average working time of the respondents is 8.8 hours per day, which is just below the 48-hour weekly limit stipulated in the local labor law, it found.
Around 38.4 percent of the respondents have to handle their work at home, while 11.9 percent of them do it often, the survey showed.
It also found 52 percent of the respondents have worked overtime without extra pay.
The survey was conducted from Nov. 4 to 18, with the results based on 1,105 respondents.
