An activity of summing up the achievements of the Showing Women's Loyalty to the Party and Singing Ode to the Motherland, a nationwide campaign in celebration of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China (PRC) launched by the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) was held in Xuzhou, a city in East China's Jiangsu Province, on November 6, 2019.
The campaign was organized by the ACWF from March to October this year, and it received warm responses from women across the country.
During the campaign, women from all walks of life were encouraged to attend various activities, including "Singing Ode to the Nation," "Telling China's Stories," "Demonstrating Love for Family and Country Through Writing" and "Striving for New Achievements amid Celebrations."
The activity demonstrated the achievements made by the women's federations at all levels around the country in the campaign, and mobilized women from all sectors of society to strive for new achievements in the new era.
Huang Xiaowei, Secretary of the Leading Party Members' Group of the ACWF and Vice-President and First Member of the Secretariat of the ACWF, Ren Zhenhe, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee, and Wu Haiying, Vice-President and Member of the Secretariat of the ACWF, attended the activity.
Representatives of local women and women officials of the women's federations around the country also participated in the event.
During the gathering, Zhang Changning and Chen Zhan, two members of the Chinese women's volleyball team, elaborated on the spirit of the Chinese women's volleyball team, which stresses the importance of patriotism, cooperation, struggle and perseverance.
A play was staged to salute Wang Shihua, and her late husband Wang Jicai, who volunteered to safeguard an isolated and small island in east China's Yellow Sea for 26 years.
The stories of a group of rural women who have persisted in planting trees in Yulin, a city in Northwest China's Shaanxi Province for four decades were shared with the audience.
Deng Yingxiang, Secretary of the Party branch of Mahuai Village in Southwest China's Guizhou Province, who has taken the lead to expand a tunnel that connected the remote mountain village with the outside world for 13 years. The tunnel is large enough for cars, which has benefited 6000-plus people in Mahuai and nearby villages. Deng's story moved the listeners.
A show titled "Inheriting Revolutionary Belief" was also staged to help the audience better understand how the revolutionary traditions pass on from generation to generation.
Prior to the close ceremony, Huang paid a visit to an exhibition about local women at the Shennong Wharf, and she visited the civilization demonstration center, history museum and women and children's home at Mazhuang Village, in Jiawang District, where she reviewed the efforts made by local women's federations to help build the civilization demonstration center, organize women to take part in voluntary activities, and select role models in the national "most beautiful families" campaign.
During the tour to a sachet-making base, Huang gave high praise to several senior women who were making sachets. She noted that every Chinese woman had the opportunities to excel in life and made their dreams come true, as the country proceeded along the path to national rejuvenation.
When talking about the work on family affairs, Huang emphasized that parents and their children should implement General Secretary Xi Jinping's relevant instructions, contribute joint efforts to the building of harmonious families and the development of good family education and traditions, and promote the socialist core values among millions of families.
