The five-day training seminar was held to help the officials better study and implement the spirit of important discourses made by President Xi Jinping concerning poverty relief and the meeting on promoting targeted poverty alleviation carried out by State organizations and State-owned enterprises in the capital on September 17.
The event was further designed to enhance the competence and skills of secretaries of village committees of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in the impoverished county, with which the ACWF built a partnership of targeted assistance as part of the poverty eradication campaign in 2016.
Speaking at the opening, Zhang Dongmei, member of the Secretariat of the ACWF, said the federation should closely implement Xi's remarks regarding poverty alleviation, further increase its sense of responsibility, mission and urgency in winning the battle against poverty, strengthen the work done on poverty relief and Party-building, and help the county shake off poverty as scheduled.
Zhang commented that village Party chiefs should make full use of CPC branches at the grassroots level along with role model Party members, and mobilize and encourage local residents to contribute their personal efforts to the poverty-alleviation campaign.
During their stay in Beijing, trainees were lectured on national policies and instructions in relation to poverty eradication and rural vitalization and invited to visit two villages in the capital in a drive to help them learn more about the building of grassroots Party branches and the development of agriculture.
In addition, the ACWF organized officials from Zhangxian to hold talks with staff at China Women's Activity Center, China Women's University, China Women Travel Service about their cooperation in the sale of agricultural products, the exploration of the tourism market. The officials also discussed with representatives from Beijing Western Mahua Catering Company about the export of labor services.
