Shen Yueyue, Vice-Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and President of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), met Hinda Déby Itno, wife of Chadian President Idriss Déby Itno, in Beijing on September 5, 2018.
Shen noted that during the opening ceremony of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), Chinese President Xi Jinping delivered the keynote speech, during which he interpreted new ideas and views about strengthening the China-Africa relationship, and he announced new measures and actions for China's pragmatic cooperation with countries on the African continent. President Xi also explained the necessity to build a China-Africa community with a shared future, Shen said.
Chad, she added, is an important African partner to China, and China has attached great importance to building bilateral relations with Chad. She said China is ready to implement important consensus reached by heads of the two countries and expand friendly exchanges and mutually beneficial cooperation with Chad, while also advancing bilateral relations to a new level.
Shen said she hoped women in China and Chad will deepen communications and cooperation, and that they will make contributions to implementing the Belt and Road Initiative and strengthening China-Chad and China-Africa friendships. She also outlined China's efforts and achievements in promoting women's all-round development and gender equality, under the leadership of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core.
Hinda heaped praise on the Beijing Summit of the FOCAC, and she expressed hope her visit to China would help deepen women's friendly communications and enhance the traditional friendship and mutually beneficial cooperation between Chad and China.
Hinda accompanied her husband to China as they attended the Beijing Summit, which was held on September 3-4. Yang Liu, Member of the Secretariat of the ACWF, attended the meeting.
