Remarks from Song Xiuyan
Drawing upon her experience, Song stressed that the theme of the CPC congress was to "remain true to our original aspiration and keep our mission firmly in mind; secure a decisive victory in building a moderately prosperous society in all respects; strive for the great success of socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era; and, work tirelessly to realize the Chinese Dream of national rejuvenation."
Referring to the original oath, the aspiration and mission of Chinese Communists is to seek happiness for the Chinese people and the rejuvenation for the Chinese nation, Song said.
Holding high the banner of socialism with Chinese characteristics means officials should remain committed to the path of socialism with Chinese characteristics in future.
The entire Party and the whole country should work to achieve the first target of the Two Centenary Goals, since it is a decisive stage for finishing the building of a moderately prosperous society in all respects by the time the CPC marks its centenary.
People should forge ahead with indomitable spirit and efforts in realizing the Chinese Dream of national rejuvenation, Song said.
In terms of the major achievements of the Congress, Song said it highlighted the importance of holding high the banner of socialism with Chinese characteristics and had a profound explanation on the historical mission of the CPC in the new era.
The first accomplishment refers to the establishment of the historical Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era.
The Congress has mapped out a basic strategy in adhering to the development of socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era; securing the target of building a moderately prosperous society in all aspects and an all-round socialist modern country; and, having a comprehensive plan for advancing the great cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics and the great project of Party building in the new era.
The second achievement refers to the amended Party Constitution which includes Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era as a guideline of the Party, in addition to Marxism-Leninism, Mao Zedong Thought, Deng Xiaoping Theory, the Theory of the Three Represents, and the Scientific Outlook on Development.
The third attainment of the Congress is the election of a new CPC Central Committee with General Secretary Xi at the core. This new central leadership of the Party for the coming five years involves senior officials who are capable and outstanding in both integrity and ability. They have a full display of the thriving prosperity and vigor of the great cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics.
During the meeting, Song, along with students and teachers, reviewed the historical achievements and changes that have taken place in the Party and the nation for the past five years.
With a high aim and overall strategy, for five years, our Party has demonstrated tremendous political courage and a powerful sense of mission as it has developed new ideas, new thinking, and new strategies, Song said.
The Party has adopted a series of major principles and policies, launched a host of major initiatives, and pushed ahead with many major tasks, she added.
The most fundamental reason for the nation's historical achievements and changes is that Xi has been at the core of the Party and the CPC Central Committee and his thought on Chinese socialism characteristics in the new era is a guide to the strong leadership of the entire Party.
Song urged all the students and teachers to fully study the Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, especially highlighting its profound significance, meaning, and historical contribution; have a deep comprehension of the basic strategy in adherence to the socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era; and, make solid progress in studying and putting the Thought into practice.
Song urged students to live up to the expectation of Xi, who outlined his expectation toward the young generation in his work report to the Congress.
"A nation will prosper only when its young people thrive; a country will be full of hope and have a great tomorrow only when its younger generations have ideals, abilities, and a strong sense of responsibility," Xi said.
"Students, who live in such a good era, should make greater efforts in achieving the Two Centenary Goals and the Chinese Dream of national rejuvenation," Song said during talks with students after the lecture.
