During the trip, Song focused on how the ACWF's reform work was being conducted among grassroots women's federations in the province, as well as how to make full use of these federations' advantages to help those in extremely poverty-stricken areas.
Song made an inspection tour in Kunming, as well as in Baoshan City, Honghe Hani and Yi Autonomous Prefecture, respectively.
Accordingly, under the deployment of the provincial women's federation, several villages, counties and communities in Kunming, Baoshan and Honghe Prefecture have taken a lead across the province in transforming women's representative conferences into women's federations.
These villages and communities have also actively promoted the reform of regional construction of township women's federations.
When talking with several newly-elected executive committee members, Song patiently inquired about problems that they have met in their work as well as changes that have taken place in local women's federations since the reform was carried out.
These newly-elected executive committee members are engaged in different jobs such as teaching and flower growing.
After holding talks with them, Song said the current two-level women's federations in villages and towns are in direct contact with the general population of women at the grassroots level and are the basis for all work by the federation.
The core of regional construction and of the replacement of women's representative conferences by women's federations is to strengthen grassroots women's federations, Song stressed.
Absorbing more competent females into the federations is conducive to connecting and serving the overall condition of women.
After learning about Women's Homes established in a professional cooperative in Longling County, a vegetable-planting base in Luxi County, as well as in other areas, have regularly carried out technical training, entrepreneurship guidance and poverty-alleviation campaigns, Song gave them her affirmation.
Women's power is enormous and they will accomplish great things when they make concerted efforts, Song stated.
One of the key missions for the ACWF's reform is to make breakthroughs in the traditional pattern of setting organizations according to administrative levels to extensively establish women's federations.
With the reform carrying forward, the work carried out by grassroots women's federations has been injected with vigor and vitality.
Specifically, Kunming Women's Federation has made innovations to conduct its Looking for the Most Beautiful Family campaign across the province. And around 1,008 educational tours about promoting shining family virtues were held by the federation last year, attracting more than 150,000 participants.
Moreover, Baoshan Women's Federation has positively cooperated with the Municipal Public Security Bureau in terms of publicity on cracking down on abduction and drug control work to safeguard women and children's legal rights and interests.
In addition, Lancheng Street Women's Federation has provided warm services for over 10,000 so-called "left-behind" children whose parents left them to find work in big cities, and disadvantaged women.
Song stated that perfecting grassroots women's federations involves making full use of their advantages in accordance with the requirements put forward by President Xi Jinping to focus on serving women as a mass organization.
On each of her visit, Song inquired about local women's conditions in detail and the reasons that caused their poverty. At the same time, she positively worked with local Party and government leaders and women's federation officials to study concrete measures to help impoverished women get rid of poverty.
A cooperative in Longling County has led more than 20,000 disadvantaged women to prosperity through engaging in processing Dendrobium, a Chinese herbal medicine.
Meanwhile, a female entrepreneurship and employment demonstration base in Tengchong County has organized over 20,000 locals to produce embroidery works and each embroider has earned over 10,000 yuan (U.S.$ 1,469) annually.
Bi Chao, a woman of the Yi minority group, has combined Yi culture with green catering to promote rural tourism in her hometown after college graduation, leading more than 100 impoverished women to boost their incomes.
Song gave her approval to these efforts to help local women improve their lives. She emphasized that President Xi's remarks delivered at the seminar on poverty reduction held in Taiyuan, capital of north China's Shanxi Province, is the fundamental guideline to fight against poverty in remote regions.
Song urged women's federations at different levels to thoroughly learn and implement Xi's important remarks in this aspect; put emphasis on helping targeted impoverished women in accordance with the unified arrangement of the Provincial Party Committee; and, learn their needs, analyze reasons that caused them to be in poverty and carry out precise aid measures.
Meanwhile, Song emphasized the importance of uniting and mobilizing women of all ethnic groups in Yunnan to play their role in "holding up half the sky" in fighting poverty and build a well-off society in an all-round way.
During the inspection tour, Song fully affirmed the achievements of the reform made by Yunnan Women's Federation. She said under the leadership of the Provincial Party Committee, the women's federations at all levels in Yunnan have positively carried out the reform with power and order.
The "political mission" for the women's federations is to lead the large population of women to follow the path of the Party; consolidate the Party's ruling basis of people involving women; and, bring the "Party's care and warmth to the masses."
At present, the ACWF's reform is being advanced in depth. Song urged women's federations at all levels to deeply study and implement Xi's speeches delivered at the meeting of the Central Committee's Party's mass organization, especially those underscoring women's federations' reform.
The grassroots women's federations' work style and ability should be constantly improved to provide services for the overall condition of women.
Song called on the large number of women to closely unite around the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee with Xi as the core leader to make positive results to welcome the upcoming 19th CPC National Congress.
Those accompanied Song during the inspection included Chen Hao, secretary of Yunnan Provincial Party Committee and chairperson of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Congress and Li Xiuling, deputy-secretary of the Provincial Party Committee.
