Shen Yueyue, vice-chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and president of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), met an Afghan women's delegation on April 18 in Beijing.
The delegation was headed by Delbar Nazari, minister of the Department of Women's Affairs in Afghanistan.
Shen spoke highly about the relations and women's exchange between the two countries.
China and Afghanistan have enjoyed a friendship with a long history as neighboring countries, Shen pointed out.
Since the establishment of diplomatic relationship, the two countries have continuously achieved fruitful cooperative results at various fields, based on mutual understanding, respect and support, Shen commented.
The friendship has won popular support from both sides, and women's organizations in China are willing to work with Afghanistan to promote a strategic partnership, Shen added.
The ACWF president hoped that women in both countries can contribute unremitting efforts in building a community with a common future in Asia.
Moreover, such efforts will benefit people, especially women, on both sides, and promote gender equality, long-lasting peace and common prosperity across the globe, Shen remarked.
At the event, Shen gave a brief introduction about Chinese women's development, underscoring the progress achieved since the 18th Communist Party of China (CPC) National Congress.
The CPC Central Committee with Chinese President Xi Jinping as the core has attached great importance to women's work, Shen emphasized.
Nazari expressed her thanks to the ACWF president and said she would continue promoting the friendship and women's exchange.
The delegation was visiting at the invitation of the ACWF to visit China. Zhang Xiaolan, vice-president and member of the Secretariat of the ACWF, was also present at the meeting.
