ACWF President Stresses Core CPC Leadership at Latest C China Inspection

Shen Yueyue, vice-chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) and president of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), recently carried out an inspection tour with a focus on law enforcement in central China's Hubei Province.

Speaking at a symposium on April 12, Shen urged officials from local women's federations at various levels to fully study the keynote remarks made by Chinese President Xi Jinping; promote federation reform; strengthen their ideological guidance; work hard to serve women in respect to the country's overall situation; and, embrace the future success of the 19th Communist Party of China (CPC) National Congress.

At the event, Shen listened to speeches from representatives and joined discussions with officials.

Later, Shen gave a positive evaluation of the Hubei Provincial Party Committee by praising local officials who have implemented Xi's keynote remarks and attached importance to the federation's work.

Under the leadership of the Party committee, federation officials at different levels have fulfilled their job responsibilities in connecting and serving women well, Shen commented.

The Party will embrace its keynote 19th National Congress later this year, she pointed out.

Women's federations at all levels should act in accordance with the unified arrangement of the CPC Central Committee; highlight the publicity and implementation of the congress; and, make solid progress in promoting the CPC's political guidelines in terms of educating and connecting women, Shen urged.

Shen required women's federations to adhere to the core CPC leadership; strengthen officials' advanced ideologies about politics and serving the people; and, insist on the "Four Consciousnesses", namely "consciousnesses of the ideology, the whole, the core and the line."

Officials should lead women from the general population to closely unite around the CPC Central Committee with Xi as the core; follow CPC policies; and, boost their confidence on the path of socialism with Chinese characteristics, in terms of the theory, scheme, and culture, Shen said.

Women's federations should follow the strict Party leadership and act as reliable and effective assistants in carrying out the Party's women-related work, Shen stressed.

Shen further urged grassroots women's federations to solve problems in time and build a service-oriented organization.

It is hoped that organizational vigor can help solve four major problems currently confronting the federation, namely lack of schemes, funds, office space and officials, Shen pointed out.

Also, the federation should expand its grassroots coverage in rural and community regions.

Where there are women, there will be women's work, and where there are women's federations, there are homes that women can trust and rely on, Shen added.

Shen encouraged female federation officials to contribute their efforts at the grassroots levels, so that the federation could increase connections and bring the service to a wider base.

Women's federations should unite women and encourage them to play their role of "holding up half-the-sky" in social progress; promote a series of thematic activities about female employment and entrepreneurship; support women's poverty-relief initiatives; and offer help to the underprivileged, Shen said.

The ACWF president also encouraged women to promote household civilized construction and the socialist social ethos; and protect their legal rights and interests.
