Beijing Women's Federation hosted a special event on March 18 on the theme "Experience the capital's culture, promote the development of the intangible cultural heritage", as a celebration of the recent 107th International Women's Day.

Around 300 people attended the event, including representatives from the National March 8th Red-Banner Collective Award Winners and Looking for the Most Beautiful Family campaign, as well as female volunteers.

Audience members also included online followers of Beijing Women, the federation's official platform on the popular social media apps Weibo and WeChat, and grassroots representatives from industries across the city.

The event featured a wide range of traditional Chinese performances such as shadow puppetry, magic, comedy, Sichuan Opera, acrobatics and martial arts.

In addition, four women from Pinggu District in Beijing were invited to recite the poem To Us, Who Are Unwilling to Be Ordinary. Meanwhile, a representative with the Looking for the Most Beautiful Family honor from the city's Huairou District demonstrated Jingyun Dagu, a form of musical storytelling.

Through the event, organizers of the Beijing Women's Federation said they hoped to demonstrate the positive spirits of the capital's women and further unite them to make contributions to building a harmonious city.
