The organizing committee of the 1st Canada China International Film Festival held a pre-launch event in Beijing on April 22. The festival will be held in Montreal, Canada from September 16-19 on the theme of "Your Stories, Our World".

The festival will include women's film seminars, joint-funded investment opportunities, entertainment and science and technology forums, as well as exhibitions. Its main focus will be on "telling Chinese stories by means of new technology," said organizers.

The festival will present audiences with several new technologies including augmented reality, 3D and instant dynamic capture.

"Time is still needed for Chinese filmmakers to accept technological innovations and find a balance between telling stories and utilizing advanced technologies," said Song Miao, the executive president of the festival committee.

Song hopes the festival could be taken as a chance for young film teams in the two countries to coordinate with each other actively and make innovations.

"Women's stories" are another characteristic component of the festival. The women's film seminar will carry out activities such as keynote speeches, seminars and audience interactions to discuss the status of women film-makers and the international film industry.

"I expect the coming of a new outlook that shows the unique delicacy of women and sunny and positive images of women, too," Song continued.

The host city of the festival Montreal is acclaimed as "the multicultural city of North America." It is a battlefield for the post-production of films.

The festival will stimulate further widespread cross-culture communications between the two countries, organizers hope.
