33 Women Delegates Elected to 18th CPC Central Committee

Thirty-three women delegates were elected into the 18th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) at the 18th CPC National Congress held in Beijing on November 14, 2012, according to a statement released by the Central Committee of the CPC.

The 18th CPC National Congress concluded in Beijing on the morning of November 14, 2012, after a new CPC Central Committee and a new Central Commission for Discipline Inspection were separately elected.

The New Central Committee of the CPC includes 205 members, whose average age is 56.1 and nearly half of whom are newcomers. Among the members, 33 are women, 39 are from ethnic minority groups, and 15 are from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering.

The five-yearly congress opened on November 8, 2012.
