During a tour of northeast China's Jilin Province from June 23-24, Li, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC), said organizations should solidly implement President Xi Jinping's remarks to greet the upcoming 19th CPC National Congress.
On June 23, Li visited Changchun iFuture, an internship base for female college students, and spoke with its startup team. When seeing the directors working in a limited space, he encouraged them by saying that the tough conditions could act as motivation.
In Jilin Youth Pioneer Park, Li learned about the details of a local startup program and efforts to inspire young entrepreneurs to target the right business direction with regards to the upgrade and transformation of old industrial bases.
When visiting Changchun Qingsi Club, a service platform focused on youth's ideological and political education, Li urged the Communist Youth League officials to utilize innovative measures and enable members to study, communicate and join activities online.
Li further called on the Party organization in the Changshan Garden Community in Kuancheng District to mobilize mass organizations to jointly launch campaigns to serve members.
During a trip to the science museum in Changchun No.47 Middle School, Li said the museum should attract more children to visit, promote popular science education and foster scientific interests from an early age.
In addition, Li went to Jilin University to visit the office of Huang Danian, a geophysicist who made outstanding contributions to education and scientific research before his death.
Having an explicit understanding of Huang's previous work and living conditions, Li urged people to follow President Xi's key remarks on learning from Huang's patriotism, professional dedication, and the noble spirit of being indifferent to fame and wealth, thereby encouraging more scientists to dedicate themselves to the country.
On June 24, Li held a symposium in Changchun and carefully listened to opinions from grassroots officials.
He called on the youth, women, scientists and overseas Chinese to strengthen the so-called "four consciousnesses" – namely consciousnesses of the ideology, the whole, the core and the line – and closely unite around the CPC Central Committee with President Xi as the core leader.
He also called on officials to moderately build a prosperous society and realize the "Chinese Dream of the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation".
To better serve the public, officials should also improve their work styles to establish direct, frequent and close communication.
Furthermore, Li stressed to speed up the construction of online mass organizations to sustain closer ties with people, thereby enabling grassroots organizations and masses to benefit from reforms.
