China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) donated 12 medical service vehicles for use in Shangrao, east China's Jiangxi province, recently, as part of its latest show of support for the Health Express for Mothers project run by China Women's Development Foundation (CWDF).
The dozen vehicles will be used to offer services to women in 12 districts and counties in the city and in particular provide more checkups, medical treatment and healthcare for pregnant women.
Officials from CNPC; CWDF; Jiangxi Women's Federation; the Shangrao Municipal Party Committee and government; and, representatives of women's federations of areas and hospitals where the Health Express for Mothers project is implemented attended the vehicle donation ceremony held locally on January 8.
During the ceremony, Wang Yinxiang, vice-president of CWDF, presented a certificate of donation to a CNPC representative. Wang said the CNPC's donation to Jiangxi reflects the care that society has shown toward people in the revolutionary base area.
She said hoped that all the women's federations in the districts and counties now equipped with such vehicles can strengthen their sense of responsibility and ensure the positive social effect of the Health Express for Mothers project.
Qu Guangxue, a CNPC manager, said that the company expects the project to help improve health services for women in Shangrao and promote targeted poverty alleviation.
Since 2012, CNPC has donated medical service vehicles worth 27.07 million yuan to poverty-stricken countries and villages in 10 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities across the country, benefitting around 3 million people in total.
